Club Dust 09

To whom it may concern,
Our family will be traveling down to Mexico this Christmas, as we did last year and volunteering in building homes. We will build some homes in a community where families either have a deed to the land or are paying for the land out of their meager salary ranging from $40-$100/month. They will receive a house with a concrete floor and 16x16 structure. Some families will have popup houses built for them that live on the railroad tracks. These popup houses are 8x8 and very easily moved if required to relocate. It's amazing what they put together to live in and stay dry from the climate in the winter.
Check out the organization we work with www.clubdust.org.

We found that there was a need everywhere we turned. Last year during the construction, there were breaks where neighborhood children would play in the dirt streets and our children would play with the kids and hand out some toys/candy. We have found such great joy in doing service and have saved and put off Christmas presents under the tree for ourselves for this greater reward. We are so very excited to take our family of 8 back down again.

Clubdust also sponsors a shoe clinic and tries to provide at least 2000/prs shoes for local families in Tecate. Families lineup as long as a km long to have a pair of shoes that would cost them a days wage. At the clinic they hand out some used clothing and beans/ vegetables /rice as well. The time we had there left us very grateful for what we have in North America and how we can live with much less.

We are asking for a donation of some shoes to hand out while we are down there in December. The best shoe seems to be a runner or tennis shoe because that is for their terrain, with muddy giant rivet road traps. Aswell, because if they can afford to send their children to school, they require white runners for their uniform. We wanted to give so much more while we were down there last December 2008, however we didn't know what to bring. Now, we have a clearer vision and we are asking for any donations possible.

Thank you So much
